Wisp was a small, soft ghost who lived in the attic of a crooked old house on Maple Lane. Every evening he drifted through the quiet, empty rooms. Swish, swish, went his wobbly tail. Wisp felt lonely. He wished he had a friend.
Wisp floated onto the porch and waved at the mailman. "Hello!" he called. But the mailman was in such a hurry he never looked up. He only shivered and buttoned his coat. "Brrr, chilly today," he said. Wisp sighed. Nobody ever noticed him.
That night, Wisp pressed his nose to the attic window. The house next door had been empty for years, but tonight something whistled in its garden. Fweeep... pfft! Up in an upstairs window, a small light glowed. Wisp felt curious tingles all the way to his tail.
