Princess Coralie woke to a quiet reef. Too quiet. The corals, usually pink and orange and purple like a candy store, looked pale and tired. 'That's odd,' said Coralie, pressing her nose right up to a droopy sea fan. 'Reefs aren't supposed to fade. I'm going to find out why.'
Coralie peered closely at the biggest brain coral. Its tiny feathery arms, usually waving and catching food, hung still and closed. 'You look hungry,' she whispered. Then she noticed something stranger β her silvery hair wasn't swishing. The water was completely still. The current had stopped!
Nearby, Pip the parrotfish yawned an enormous yawn. 'No current means no food floating past for the coral,' he grumbled. 'And the water's gone all cloudy, which makes everyone sleepy.' Coralie tapped her chin. One thing was causing another, like dominoes! But where did the dominoes start?
Coralie flicked her tail, ready to investigate. Should she dive down deep to follow the current's old path and see where it stopped? Or visit the cleaner shrimp station, where the busy little shrimp hear every whisper of news on the reef?
