The Three Billy Goats Gruff
Once upon a time, three billy goats lived by a bubbling brook. Little Billy was white as fresh snow and loved to BOUNCE everywhere he went. Middle Billy was golden like sunshine and always hummed happy tunes. Big Billy was brown like chocolate cake and had the loudest, rumbly voice in the whole valley. Across the rickety wooden bridge was the most amazing meadow EVER! The grass was so green it sparkled, and purple flowers danced in the breeze. "My tummy is RUMBLING!" said Little Billy, bouncing up and down. "I want that yummy grass!" "Mine too!" sang Middle Billy. "Rumble-tumble-grumble!" "MINE THREE!" boomed Big Billy, and his voice was so loud it made the bridge shake. "Let's go get that grass!" Little Billy hopped onto the bridge first. TRIP-trap, TRIP-trap, TRIP-trap went his tiny hooves, making the boards creak and groan. Suddenly... THUMP! CRASH! RUMBLE! Up popped the strangest creature they'd ever seen! He had wild green hair that stuck up everywhere, enormous purple ears, and he was wearing... polka-dot pajamas! "Who's that tip-tapping on MY bridge?" he asked hopefully, rubbing his rumbly tummy. "I'm SO hungry! Do you have any yummy snacks to share?" Little Billy's eyes twinkled. "Oh, I don't have any snacks with me, but my brother Middle Billy knows where the SWEETEST flowers grow - much sweeter than anything I could carry!" Grumbly's tummy made a loud GROWL. "Sweeter than clover?" "Much sweeter!" said Little Billy. "Well then, you'd better hurry across!" said Grumbly, and he let Little Billy bounce safely to the other side. Middle Billy danced onto the bridge next. TRIP-trap, SKIP-hop, TRIP-trap went his hooves as he spun and twirled. "Who's that dancing on my bridge?" called Grumbly, popping up with his tummy growling even LOUDER. "GROOOOWL! Do YOU have any tasty snacks to share?" "Oh, I wish I did!" said Middle Billy, doing a little spin. "But I don't have any snacks with me either! My big brother knows where the JUICIEST berries grow though - sweeter than honey and bigger than grapes!" Grumbly's eyes went wide and his mouth started watering. "Juicier than anything?" "The juiciest in the whole valley!" sang Middle Billy. "Ooh, I can't wait!" said Grumbly, and he let Middle Billy dance safely across. Now Big Billy stepped onto the bridge. STOMP-THUMP, STOMP-THUMP, STOMP-THUMP! The whole bridge bounced and swayed like a see-saw! "Who's making my bridge shake?" called Grumbly, bouncing up with his tummy making the LOUDEST growl yet: "GROOOOOOOWWWWWL! Please tell me YOU have some snacks to share!" "I'm Big Billy!" he boomed. "And I don't have snacks with me, but I have something even better! I know where there's the most amazing feast - sweet flowers, juicy berries, AND delicious grass that tastes like candy! Want to come share it all with us?" Grumbly's jaw dropped. "A... a feast? For ME too?" "Of course!" said Big Billy. "Friends always share!" "Friends?" Grumbly's whole face lit up like sunshine. "Nobody's ever wanted to share with me before!" "Well then, let's go!" shouted all three goats together. "YES!" cheered Grumbly. They raced across the bridge together - TRIP-trap, SKIP-hop, STOMP-thump, and Grumbly's big feet going GALUMPH-GALUMPH-GALUMPH! When they reached the meadow, the air smelled like the sweetest candy! Grumbly's eyes grew HUGE. The flowers sparkled like jewels, and the berries were so big and juicy they practically glowed! "This is a DREAM COME TRUE!" Grumbly cheered, doing a happy wiggle that made his polka-dot pajamas flutter. They munched and crunched and shared the most delicious feast ever. Little Billy showed Grumbly how to bounce while eating grass (chomp-bounce-chomp-bounce!). Middle Billy taught him a berry-picking dance. And Big Billy shared the sweetest clover he could find. For the first time, Grumbly felt full - not just from food, but from the warm, happy feeling of having real friends. "Every day can be the best day when you have friends!" said Little Billy. From that day on, whenever anyone wanted to cross the bridge, Grumbly would pop up and say, "Welcome to the Friendship Bridge! Want to bounce across with me?" And he never, EVER felt lonely again. The three billy goats and Grumbly became the very best of friends, and they had grass-eating dance parties in the meadow every single day. THE END! *Now that's what we call happy-ever-after!*
