Morris the Forgetful Magician

Morris the Forgetful Magician

Morris the rabbit was very excited. Today was his big magic show! All the forest animals were coming to watch. Morris put on his sparkly purple cape and his tall black hat. He practiced in front of his mirror. "Abracadabra... or was it Alakazam? Or... Hocus Pocus?" Morris scratched his fuzzy ears. He could never remember the right words! Soon, all the animals arrived and sat down. There were squirrels, birds, hedgehogs, and even a big bear! "Welcome, welcome!" said Morris nervously. "Prepare to be AMAZED!" For his first trick, Morris reached for his magic hat. "For my first trick, I will pull a rabbit from my hat!" He waved his wand. "ABRA-KA-PICKLE!" POOF! Out came... a giant pile of SPAGHETTI! It flopped onto the stage. SPLAT! The noodles wiggled everywhere! "Oops," said Morris, turning pink. But the baby squirrels giggled. "Silly spaghetti!" Morris tried again. "Next, I will make beautiful flowers appear!" He waved his wand in a big circle. "HOCUS-BANANA-POCUS!" POOF! Suddenly, colorful SOCKS started raining from the sky! Pink socks! Striped socks! Polka-dot socks! They landed on everyone's heads! "Oh dear," Morris mumbled. But the birds chirped with laughter, wearing socks like funny hats! Morris was getting more nervous. Maybe he should stop? But no! One more trick! "I will now make this apple... DISAPPEAR!" He pointed his wand at a red apple. "ZIPPITY-ZAM!" POOF! The apple didn't disappear. Instead, it turned into a TRUMPET! HONK! went the trumpet all by itself! Then the trumpet turned into a RUBBER DUCK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK! Then the rubber duck turned into a DANCING PICKLE! The pickle wiggled and jiggled across the stage! Morris covered his face with his paws. "I'm so sorry! I mixed up all the magic words!" But then he heard something strange. The animals weren't upset. They were LAUGHING! Not mean laughing - happy, giggling, rolling-on-the-ground laughing! "That was HILARIOUS!" shouted the bear. "Do it again!" squeaked the mice. "The dancing pickle was my favorite!" chirped a bird. Morris peeked through his paws. Everyone was smiling! Clapping! Cheering! They looked so HAPPY! Morris's ears perked up. Wait a minute... Maybe mixing up the magic words wasn't so bad after all! "Will you do another show next week?" asked a little hedgehog excitedly. Morris looked at all the laughing, smiling faces. He thought about the dancing pickle, the sock rain, and the spaghetti surprise. A big smile spread across his face. "YES! And it'll be even SILLIER!" The crowd went wild with excitement! From that day on, Morris became the Funniest Magician in the forest. He still mixed up his magic words - but now he did it on PURPOSE! Because Morris had learned something wonderful: making people laugh IS the best magic of all. The End.
